About
D Harding was born in Moranbah, Queensland, in 1982. They work in a wide variety of media to explore the visual and social languages of their communities as a cultural continuum. A descendant of Bidjara, Ghungalu, and Garingbal peoples, they maintain and draw upon the spiritual and philosophical sensibilities of their cultural inheritance within the framework of international contemporary art.
D’s work recasts notions of site specificity towards the migratory politics and ethics of cultural inheritance - shifting the paradigm from site, and non-site, to something perhaps more akin to place, and “new-place”.
This video work was shot on Bidjara County in 2023, and subsequently presented as part of the artists presentation on Robert Smithson, in particular “Spiral Jetty”, at Dia Art Foundation in Chelsea, New York on September 13, 2023 .
